As pet travel specialists, we supply IATA compliant pet crates for air travel. The kennels are available in a range of different sizes to suit your cat or dog. We can also provide custom made wooden pet crates for air travel again to IATA approved standards, that provide both safety and comfort whilst in the air.
Airline approved kennels for dogs and cats
Our experienced team is happy to assist you in selecting the ideal crate, ensuring that your dog or cat has ample space and comfort during their journey. With a truly extensive range of IATA approved kennels, we can cater to all needs – from the smallest puppies or kittens to the largest dog breeds. Along with comfort, these crates also ensure the necessary level of safety, so you can relax and not worry about your pet’s wellbeing during the flight.
TailWings’ IATA approved travel crates are suitable for pets of all breeds and sizes. You can be confident that even the most exotic pet will travel with comfort.
IATA crate requirements
Our crates for airline travel fully meet IATA Live Animal Regulations standards, which means that each crate has:
- Precise, well-calculated dimensions
- Durable construction materials
- An internal water container
- Optional veterinary-grade bedding
- Proper ventilation
Correct sizing of airline approved pet crates
Choosing the right crate size for air travel is essential for your pet’s comfort and safety, as well as for airline approval. Your pet should be able to stand fully upright, sit comfortably, and turn around easily within the crate. One that’s small will be too cramped for your pet and may be rejected by the airline. An excessively large crate could be unsafe for your pet as they might get injured during turbulence, and this size may also be disallowed.
Material and design
A pet travel crate should be made of robust materials to withstand potential impacts or stress. Metal doors should be of non-bending metal to securely contain your pet during the flight while allowing sufficient light and airflow.
Food and water containers
Your pet must have access to water for the duration of the flight. Typically, water containers are designed to be refillable from the outside and come with spill-resistant features. Access to water is a basic requirement and essential for your pet’s comfort during the trip.
Veterinary bedding
Veterinary-grade bedding should be appropriately sized to fit the crate and have absorbent qualities. This will help keep your pet dry and comfortable during the flight. Hygiene is key to your pet’s health, so including quality bedding is an essential part of the pet crate for air travel.
Ventilation
It’s crucial that your pet has a constant supply of air. Neither the crate’s position nor your pet’s movement should block airflow, and all IATA-approved travel crates are designed with this in mind.
