One of the first questions a pet owner always has on their mind when deciding to travel abroad, whether on holiday or permanently, is knowing what countries are the most pet-friendly. Luckily for UK pet owners, many countries around the world are animal lovers! In this blog, we will be featuring five of the most pet-friendly countries, you can rest assured that your pet will be most welcome in any of these locations!

Germany

Germany is a nation of animal lovers! Being home to the largest animal sanctuary in the world in Berlin and ensuring a no-kill policy on their strays, Germany takes the treatment of animals very seriously and gives them the respect they deserve. This love is translated and immersed throughout the country, with your dogs being welcomed into nearly all restaurants and shops. Germany really is a pet-friendly country and with so much to see and do, it becomes an ideal location to take your pets!

Switzerland

Have you always wanted to go skiing in the Swiss alps and have the option to snuggle with your dog in the evening? Well luckily for you, Switzerland is another pet-friendly country. In fact, they are so pet-friendly that before you can even adopt a dog, the Swiss government recommends that you take a training course on how to care for your pets. Like Germany, your pet is welcomed in most restaurants with a bowl of water and treat, and sometimes they can even partake in treats from the fondue team. Switzerland is also home to hundreds of hiking trails that you and your canine friend can adventure together and make memories that will last a lifetime.

France

Just across the English Channel is France, home to many pet-friendly hotels and tourist destinations. France is a vast and open country, with open stretches of space for you to explore. Whether you want to enjoy the city life of Paris, visit the vineyards of Burgundy, explore the historic medieval town of Provins or sit back and relax together in Sunny Monaco, France has it all. Canada

O Canada. Canadians know how to care for their pets, with 100s of pet-friendly hotels across the country, meaning you can take your cats, dogs, and anything in between, across the pond and feel safe and secure. There are also countless road-tripping and hiking possibilities, where you will find some of the most beautiful scenery, across mountainous regions, lakes, or beaches throughout the country. On the border of Ontario, you have the famous Niagara Falls which allows pets along the greenspace within view of the falls.

United States

On the other side of Canada, is the United States. Whilst there are many differences between the two countries, one thing they share is that they’re some of the most pet-friendly countries in the world. You will be hard-pressed to find a country with a bigger love for animals than us, but the USA certainly comes close. From coast to coast, throughout the country, your furry friend will be welcomed by easy-to-find pet-friendly hotels. Whatever the experience you are looking for, you will find it in the US; whether it’s beautiful hikes through Yosemite or adventuring the glorious Western coastline, you can find it all in the US.
